UKRAINE// WE CAN HELP RIGHT NOW
UKRAINE// WE CAN HELP RIGHT NOW
With a limited time if any to prepare, people fled their homes with nothing more than the shirts on their backs. They simply grabbed their families, jumped into their cars, & headed toward safety. Some even had to abandon their cars & began walking since there were mile after mile of cars waiting to cross a border.
Each and every refugee’s story is filled with pain and tears. Most have had to leave at least one loved one behind. It is hard to even imagine the traumatic events that have taken place over recent days.
FROM IRPIN, UKRAINE TO ROMANIA
Onelife began praying for Ukraine and within in days sent resources to support a church 14km Northwest of Kiev that was sheltering citizens. Now that church has been forced to scatter by bombings and attacks. As information continues to be provided to us, we will continue our support in Irpin. But we've moved forward to help financially with the refugee crisis.
CHURCHES IN BUCHAREST
Six churches in Bucharest, Romania have partnered together to help those who are displaced & with little hope during this crisis. From meeting immediate needs at border crossings such as - water, food & tents - to transportation, defense from human trafficking, to a transitional center, & long-term care...followers of Jesus are meeting tangible needs & giving hope spiritually to thousands.
REFUGEE TRANSITIONAL CENTER
One of the churches has been converted into a center for refugees as they transit through Romania. Typically individuals will be staying at
the center for 1-2 nights. Refugees arrive in need of a hot meal, some rest, clothes, hygienic
products, a warm shower, and a place to wash their clothes. The Transitional Center is housing 60-80 people. The cost for meals, fuel, & added utilities is a daily need.
REFUGEE LONG-TERM CENTER
This location will be used for refugees staying in Romania for a long term. Currently there are over 40 people staying at the camp. This center has 3 buildings (with only one actually ready for an influx of this capacity). Churches are working to have adequate plumbing & electrical need to increase the current capacity to over100 beds.
Refugees are provided 3 meals a day, a place to live, clothes, hygiene products, showers. At this point they are helped in navigating Romania’s legal system as they seek refugee status.
HOW CAN WE MAKE A DIFFERENCE
There are ongoing daily needs such as; meals at the border & in housing facilities, fuel, & toiletries. There are also one-time needs such as; bedding, mattresses, tents, & facility repairs.
